In one sentence

Wavect is a software service provider and custom software development company serving all of Austria from a base in Tyrol: clients in every state work with us remote-first, meet us on-site when a project needs it, keep their data in the EU, and own the code we build.

Best for

  • Companies anywhere in Austria that want a domestic partner in their timezone and language, not an offshore team half a day away
  • Buyers whose software and data need to stay under EU and Austrian jurisdiction
  • Founders planning to claim the Forschungsprämie or aws and FFG funding and who want a team that has shipped inside those rules

Not the fit for

  • Teams where the lowest offshore day rate matters more than proximity
  • Buyers who need a large local support floor with 24/7 on-site SLAs in their own city
  • Work where being in Austria makes no difference and price is the only factor

Which kind of provider do you actually need?

“Software agency”, “software service provider”, “software vendor” and “Softwaredienstleister” all name the same kind of firm: one you hire to build software. The label is marketing. What actually decides who you should call is the deliverable.

What a domestic partner actually gets you

The reasons clients across Austria pick a team here over offshore, beyond the code itself. How we scope, price and deliver a build lives on the software development service . If AI is the core of the product, see our Austrian agency for AI products . If you are based in Tyrol specifically, see our software agency in Tyrol .
  • Coverage across every state. Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg, Klagenfurt, Innsbruck and everywhere between. Remote-first, on-site when a phase needs it.
  • Your timezone, your language. Product and engineering answer in German or English, in Austrian business hours, not across a half-day gap.
  • Data under EU jurisdiction. We default to EU hosting and GDPR-compliant handling, so your data never has to leave European rules.
  • Funding-aware delivery. Building for the Forschungsprämie or an aws or FFG grant changes how work has to be documented. We have shipped inside those rules. See software funding in Austria .
  • Contract under Austrian law. Fixed price on a signed Werkvertrag, or a monthly retainer. The engagement models and process are on our software development service .

When a domestic partner makes sense, when it doesn't

// 01

Choose an Austrian partner when

  • You want a team in your timezone and language, reachable the same working day
  • Your data or sector has to stay under EU and Austrian rules
  • You plan to claim the Forschungsprämie or aws and FFG funding and need documentation that holds up
// 02

Look elsewhere when

  • The lowest possible day rate matters more than proximity and offshore is genuinely fine for you
  • You need a large support desk with 24/7 on-site SLAs in your own city
  • The work is a standard product you can buy off the shelf

If proximity buys you nothing on this project, we will say so and point you to the cheaper option.

Software development in Austria: common questions

All of Austria, and well beyond it. We are based in Tyrol, work remote-first with clients in every Austrian state, and have shipped for clients in 17+ countries. We come on-site when a phase needs it. Tyrol is where we sit, not who we work with.
In the EU. We default to EU hosting and GDPR-compliant handling, so your data stays under European and Austrian rules. If your sector has stricter residency requirements, tell us on the first call and we will confirm what we can meet.
Often, yes. Genuine development work can qualify for the Forschungsprämie, and aws and FFG run grants that fit software projects. It changes how the work has to be documented from day one. We have shipped inside those rules. See our guide to software funding in Austria for what qualifies.
Proximity, timezone, language and jurisdiction. You get product and engineering in Austrian business hours, in German or English, with your data under EU rules and a contract under Austrian law. If none of that matters and price is the only factor, offshore may be cheaper, and we will tell you so.
The first two are the same thing under different labels: a firm you hire to build software that did not exist before. German-speaking buyers search for the same firm as a Softwaredienstleister. An IT service provider, Systemhaus or MSP is a different business: it runs and supports your existing IT under an SLA, from networks and workstations to a helpdesk. Most companies need both, from two different vendors.
Both words describe us. We are a two-founder Austrian company you hire to design, build and ship custom software. Call it a software agency, a software service provider, a software vendor or a Softwaredienstleister. What matters commercially is the engagement model underneath: a fixed-scope Werkvertrag or a monthly retainer, with the code transferring to you.
No. We build software, we do not run IT operations. No helpdesk, no workstation or network management, no 24/7 on-site desk. If that is what you need, hire an IT service provider or Systemhaus for it. We can build and hand over the software while a provider like that runs the surrounding IT.
A Werkvertrag by default: we owe you a defined result, not a number of hours. That is the honest difference behind the word Dienstleister, which contractually points at a Dienstvertrag, an obligation of effort. Time and materials or a monthly retainer are available when scope genuinely cannot be fixed up front. See fixed price vs time and materials .
