Test the application as an adversary, with an agreed scope.
A scanner can flag a dependency. It cannot decide whether one customer can approve another customer’s payment or export a record they should never see. We examine the application paths that matter, document confirmed findings and verify the agreed repairs.
Wavect conducts scoped, authorized penetration testing of web applications, mobile backends and APIs. The engagement combines manual investigation and supporting tools, producing reproducible findings, prioritized remediation and an agreed retest.
Best for
Product teams preparing a defined application for release or customer review
Owners who need authorization and business-logic risks examined
Consider another approach
An unapproved third-party target or a request for certification
Define the target and the limits before testing
Confirm the system owner, written authorization, exact hosts and applications, permitted techniques and escalation contacts. Agree whether testing uses staging or production, how customer data is protected and which activities are excluded. Third-party services require their own permission. No testing begins from a contact-form enquiry alone, and the agreed stop conditions remain part of the engagement.
Follow important actions across trust boundaries
Examine authentication, account recovery, role changes, tenant isolation, exposed data and the application’s critical business flows. Test identities represent the relevant user roles. Automated tooling supports investigation, while findings are checked for actual reachability and impact within scope. A general Software QA engagement retains ownership of routine functional and regression coverage.
Give developers enough detail to reproduce the issue
Findings include the affected scope, prerequisites, controlled reproduction, observed behavior and business impact. Sensitive evidence is minimized and transferred through an agreed channel. Severity considers the application’s context and required access, not only a scanner score. The report also lists coverage limits so an untested area is not mistaken for a clean result.
Illustrative check: a cross-account request is rejected
In an authorized test environment, two accounts own separate records. A request from one account attempts the other account’s operation and should be rejected without exposing the record. After remediation, the tester repeats the agreed case and checks the legitimate workflow still functions. This describes a test objective, not a claim about an existing customer vulnerability.
Keep the repair and the verification separate
We review findings with the responsible engineers and agree which fixes will be retested. Implementation can be separately scoped; the retest records fixed, unresolved and unverified items against the tested version. Pipeline prevention belongs to DevSecOps, runtime configuration to Cloud Security and agent-specific permission abuse to AI Security.
Know what the report does and does not establish
Deliver the report, executive explanation, reproducible evidence and retest record with the agreed retention and deletion schedule. A point-in-time assessment cannot establish that every vulnerability is absent. Certificates, legal opinions and independent regulatory attestations are outside this service. New endpoints or major releases may require a follow-up scope rather than reuse of an older conclusion.
Questions before you start
Only with explicit authorization, an agreed impact tolerance and suitable safeguards. A representative staging environment may be the better initial choice.
It means the agreed assessment did not confirm findings beyond those reported. Coverage, access, time and the tested version define the limits.
Remediation can be agreed separately. The report distinguishes the change made from the evidence obtained during retesting.
Only if listed in the scope. Cloud Security and AI Security provide dedicated engagements for those boundaries.
Share the application type, public entry points and the business flows you want assessed. Testing starts only after ownership, authorization and rules of engagement are agreed.
