Marketplace Development

A marketplace that works for buyers, sellers and the people running it.

A second seller changes more than the catalog. Someone must own stock, commission, delivery, refunds and the answer when an order goes wrong. We turn those rules into a working platform, starting with the transaction your marketplace needs to complete reliably.

DIRECT ANSWER

Wavect builds and extends multi-seller marketplaces, covering seller onboarding, listings, orders, commissions, payment-provider integration and the tools needed to operate them. The first scope follows a complete transaction, including its exceptions.

Best for

  • Founders launching a defined multi-seller business model
  • Marketplace operators whose seller and order workflows need improvement

Consider another approach

  • A single-merchant shop that needs storefront or checkout changes

Decide what the platform is responsible for

Define whether sellers fulfill orders themselves, how listings are approved and who handles customer support. Record commission rules, currencies and the payment provider’s supported flow. Your legal and finance advisers set the contractual and regulatory requirements. A single seller’s store belongs with E-commerce Development; this engagement owns coordination between independent sellers and the platform.

Make the first seller successful before importing thousands

Start with registration, required business details, product submission, approval and the first fulfilled order. Give sellers clear status and actionable rejection reasons. The operator needs permissioned tools to review listings, suspend an account and resolve an exception. Complex attributes and channel publishing can use a separately scoped Product Information Management workflow.

Trace money and order state separately

A basket can contain items from several sellers while payment, shipping and refund events arrive at different times. We define order states, commission calculations, webhook retries and reconciliation records. Payment processing uses the chosen provider’s supported arrangement; the software does not imply that Wavect holds customer funds or supplies regulated payment services.

Illustrative check: one seller cannot fulfill

An illustrative test basket contains two sellers. One ships, the other cancels. The expected result states what the buyer sees, which amount is refunded, how the commission changes and what appears in each seller’s ledger. Replaying the refund notification must not duplicate the refund. This is an acceptance scenario to adapt, not a claimed client result.

Launch a manageable market, then widen it

Discovery produces the transaction map, interface inventory, permission model and prioritized release scope. Implementation includes operational screens and representative failure tests. We add categories, seller types or countries only after their rules are understood. Measure onboarding completion, failed orders and support work through Product Analytics & Experimentation when those measurements are part of the brief.

Keep the operating knowledge with your team

Your repositories and provider accounts hold the implementation. Handover includes integration settings, order-state definitions, reconciliation steps and escalation responsibilities. Bring payment-provider access, representative catalogs and the people who approve seller and refund policies. Routine maintenance and continuous operations are agreed separately, with their hours and responsibilities written down before launch.

Questions before you start

Yes. We assess its extension points and the workflows it already supports before proposing custom components or a replacement.
Usually the first question is which existing platform or payment provider supports the business model. Custom code should address a demonstrated gap.
Yes. We define the effective dates and calculation basis so historical orders remain explainable when a commission changes.
Yes. A narrow category and seller cohort make it easier to test onboarding and order operations before broadening the platform.

Scope your marketplace

Tell us who buys, who sells and how money and goods move. Bring the business model and an example order; we will map the first release around them.
