Custom Illustrations & Visual Systems

Give the idea an image your audience can understand.

A product story may need a visual that stock imagery cannot explain. We create a coherent illustration language and a defined set of assets for your interface, website or launch materials, with composition and delivery formats chosen for their actual use.

DIRECT ANSWER

Custom illustration work develops an agreed visual style and a set of original assets, with clear placement, revision, format and usage requirements.

Best for

  • Products needing explanatory or editorial visuals
  • Teams building a consistent family of branded illustrations

Consider another approach

  • Exact data charts or implementation diagrams

Decide what each image needs to do

We distinguish an explanatory image from a decorative one. Each asset has a message, audience, placement, crop and relationship to surrounding text. Existing identity rules come from your brand or Branding work. Numerical charts and precise system diagrams need reproducible drawing methods; their factual accuracy is not delegated to an illustrative style.

Approve the rules before producing the whole set

A visual study explores composition, line, color, character and level of detail. We finish one representative asset to expose production and readability problems early. That pilot becomes the reference for the remaining set. The brief states whether the workflow includes hand drawing, vector construction or AI-assisted exploration, and what source material may be used.

Design for the surface where the image will live

We prepare variants for agreed light and dark backgrounds, narrow and wide layouts, and necessary crops. Important information must remain understandable in accompanying text. For product illustrations, we coordinate with UX/UI Design so empty states and onboarding visuals support the task. Alt-text intent, decorative treatment and file-size expectations are included in the handoff.

Illustrative acceptance: an empty workspace

Imagine an empty-state illustration for a team workspace. The image should make the first invitation feel approachable without looking like an error. We review it beside the actual headline and button, at the smallest supported viewport and without animation. Acceptance checks that the action remains clear and the visual survives the agreed crop; no engagement uplift is implied.

Know which files and rights you receive

Delivery identifies editable masters where included, web-ready exports, naming, variants and a concise style reference. Our rights in the commissioned original work transfer to you on payment, with no rights retained by Wavect. The contract identifies third-party ingredients and their licence restrictions. Additional scenes and animation are scoped separately. Bring brand guidance, placement examples and a list of required assets; confidential references are shared only through an agreed channel.

Questions before you start

We can follow your own approved visual system and licensed references. We discuss which characteristics matter and avoid promising an exact copy of another creator’s work.
When vector construction suits the approved style and is included in scope. Raster artwork does not become an editable vector merely by exporting a different extension.
Only when specified. Motion introduces timing, performance and reduced-motion requirements that need their own production and review budget.
Yes. The style reference and source-file agreement make later additions more consistent. We confirm whether original assets, fonts and tools remain available before quoting.

Brief your illustration project

List the images you need, where they will appear and the formats you expect. Include your own brand references and clarify any source-art rights.
