Fractional CTO Tirol

Remote-first · on-site as surchargeable add-on

Wavect GmbH is registered in Ampass, Tirol. Delivery is remote first across the region; paid on-site sessions are available when a technical decision genuinely benefits from the room.

What does a fractional CTO actually do?

A fractional CTO leads engineering for a company that does not yet need (or cannot yet afford) a full-time chief technology officer. The work is the same as a full-time CTO: roadmap, hiring, vendor management, architecture decisions, production accountability, board updates. The shape is different. One to two days per week, on a retainer that cancels weekly, with a clear handover when the full-time CTO is in the chair. At Wavect, two founders are on every engagement and a 15+ specialist bench plugs in under the same SoW when the work outgrows two people.

Working with Wavect in Tirol

Tirol is the regional page, not a duplicate of Innsbruck. Wavect GmbH is registered in Ampass, and Kevin is based in Innsbruck. We can plan on-site work across the region, but the engagement still runs remote first because technical leadership should not depend on commuting.

Startup.Tirol supports research- and technology-driven companies through market-entry and scaling programs. Cluster IT Tirol describes a network spanning software, smart production, energy, mobility, health, and tourism applications. We use that breadth as context, not as permission to claim every Tyrolean company as our niche.

A fractional CTO fits when a digital product has engineers or suppliers but no senior person accountable for architecture, delivery, and technical risk. If you only need developers, hire developers. If nobody can make the technical call, that is the CTO gap.

// LOCAL FIT

Where the CTO gap shows up across Tirol

The company type matters less than the missing decision authority.

An established business is becoming a software owner

A family business or operating company commissions a portal, platform, connected product, or internal system. Suppliers can build it, but your company still needs someone to own architecture, security, handover, and the long-term cost.

A technology startup has builders but no technical executive

The team can ship. What is missing is the person who sequences platform work, challenges vendor claims, runs hiring, and explains technical risk to founders or the board.
// FIRST 30 DAYS

The first 30 days across a regional team

We start with ownership, not a stack recommendation.

  1. Name the real owners
    Map founders, internal teams, suppliers, funding commitments, and every system that currently falls between organisations.
  2. Build one technical risk order
    Rank security, reliability, architecture, staffing, and vendor risks against business impact instead of treating everything as urgent.
  3. Set the operating contract
    Agree decision rights, weekly reviews, escalation paths, and what a clean handover to a future full-time CTO must contain.
// ROLE CHECK

Technical owner or product owner?

The Fractional CTO owns engineering. The Fractional CPO Tirol owns a post-PMF roadmap and discovery cadence. If your product and engineering calls cannot be separated without creating a weekly standoff, use the Fractional CTPO .

Fractional CTO Tirol: regional questions

What local coverage does and does not mean.

The Tirol engagement covers the region and companies outside Innsbruck. The Innsbruck page is specific to Kevin’s local base and city-level on-site work. Scope, published pricing, and the two-founder delivery model are the same; the operating context is not.
Yes. A fractional CTO does not need to replace the builders. We can own architecture decisions, delivery risk, vendor management, and handover while your existing team keeps shipping. If the missing owner is the roadmap rather than engineering, see the Fractional CPO Tirol .
