## Working with Wavect in Graz

The Styrian Business Development Agency describes Styria as Austria’s second-strongest startup region and highlights deep tech, academic spin-offs, industrial technology, production, hardware, energy, mobility, life sciences, and software. That is a useful description of the environment, not a claim that Wavect has worked with every part of it.

The CTO problem in this environment is often the boundary between technical possibility and production responsibility. A prototype can be impressive and still lack release ownership, security, observability, supplier control, or a credible path from one pilot to a maintainable product.

We enter at that boundary. We do not replace domain scientists or engineers. We own the technical decisions that cut across them and make the trade-offs explicit.

## The first 30 days on a Graz deep-tech or software product

We start by separating research risk from engineering risk.

1. **Draw the production boundary** - Document what is proven, what is experimental, which components are supplied, and which failures would stop a pilot or customer rollout.
2. **Choose the next technical evidence** - Prioritize architecture, reliability, security, performance, and integration work against the next commercial milestone.
3. **Put ownership on every interface** - Assign decisions across internal engineers, research partners, suppliers, and vendors so integration risk stops belonging to everyone and therefore nobody.

## Fractional CTO Graz: local questions

### Can you lead a product that combines hardware and software?

We can own the system-level architecture, interfaces, delivery risk, supplier decisions, and production plan. We do not pretend to replace specialist hardware or domain engineers. Where specialist depth is required, it stays with your experts or an explicitly scoped specialist.

### Do you work on-site in Graz?

Yes, as a paid add-on when a workshop, integration review, or supplier session benefits from the room. Routine technical leadership stays remote. Wavect does not claim a Graz office.
