Computer Vision

# Turn images into useful signals, with the difficult cases accounted for.

A model working on selected images is only the beginning. We build vision workflows around the cameras, lighting, movement and objects that actually appear in your process, then test how uncertain or unfamiliar inputs should be handled.

THE ENGAGEMENT

## Capture conditions belong in the specification.

1. **Observe the scene** Define objects, camera positions, variation and failure costs.
2. **Measure recognition** Compare approaches on labeled examples and difficult conditions.
3. **Integrate the result** Connect predictions, uncertainty and review to the real workflow.

DIRECT ANSWER

Computer vision development connects image or video input to an agreed recognition, detection or inspection task. The engagement covers capture constraints, annotated evaluation data, model selection and integration with review or action workflows.

Best for

- Operations with a repeatable visual inspection or recognition task
- Software products needing image-based signals under known capture conditions

Consider another approach

- Text extraction and validation as the main document workflow
- A safety-critical autonomous decision without domain validation

## Specify what the camera must distinguish

Classification assigns an image a category; detection locates objects; segmentation identifies regions within an image. We select the task from the business action, not the attractiveness of a demo. Define which classes matter, what counts as a defect or exception and whether the output assists a person or triggers a bounded process.

## Test the image supply before optimizing a model

We examine resolution, lighting, angles, occlusion, motion and changes across sites or devices. A capture adjustment can be more valuable than additional training. The evaluation set must include realistic difficult examples and unfamiliar inputs. For labels that do not yet exist, [Data Annotation](/services/data-annotation/) defines the rubric and quality review.

## Choose where inference runs

We compare suitable existing models, adapted models and custom training against accuracy, latency, hardware and operating cost. Edge deployment can reduce network dependence; a server may simplify updates. The design states what leaves the device, how images are retained and how model versions are recorded. Device connectivity can be scoped with [Industrial IoT](/services/industrial-iot/).

## Illustrative acceptance: a partly hidden component

An example inspection receives an image with the relevant component obscured. The workflow records an inconclusive result and requests recapture or review instead of treating the item as passing. Tests separate visible defects, acceptable items and unusable images. The acceptance record ties each decision to the image conditions and the model version.

## Deliver the evaluation and the integration together

You receive the class definitions, permitted dataset references, training or configuration artifacts, evaluation results and application integration. We agree thresholds and retest after meaningful camera or environment changes. Limits remain visible to operators. Ongoing release and monitoring routines can be added through [MLOps](/services/mlops/) after the initial scope is accepted.

## Questions before you start

### Can you use an existing vision model?

Yes. We first check whether a suitable model or API meets the task and data requirements. Custom training is justified by measured gaps, not assumed at the start.

### Do you build camera hardware or firmware?

The engagement covers the software and agreed integration. Camera selection, installation, firmware changes and site work are identified separately so responsibilities are clear.

### Can the system inspect every product variant?

We define supported variants from representative evidence. A new material, shape or capture setup can require fresh evaluation before it joins the accepted operating scope.

### How do you report quality?

We report task-appropriate measures and errors by relevant class or condition. Missed defects, false alarms and unusable images are kept separate because their operational costs differ.

## Continue with the right scope

- [Create and review visual labels](/services/data-annotation/)
- [Manage vision model releases](/services/mlops/)
- [Extract records from documents](/services/document-ai/)
