Seltener als das [Fractional-CTO](/de/glossary/fractional-cto/) -Modell, aber zunehmend real. Ein Fractional [CPO](/de/glossary/cpo/) joint 1 bis 3 Tage pro Woche, betreibt Produkt-Discovery, sequenziert die Roadmap und besitzt die Kundeninterview-Kadenz. Engineering verantwortet er nicht. Design auch nicht, sofern man ihn nicht darum bittet.

Der Fit ist eng: Die Firma braucht Produkt-Seniorität, kann aber noch keinen Vollzeit-CPO rechtfertigen, UND der Founder ist bereit, die Produktentscheidung abzugeben. Wenn der Founder auch der Produktmensch ist und diese Autorität nicht teilen will, ist ein Fractional CPO ein Reibungsgenerator.

Beispiel: Eine Firma hat frühe Traktion erreicht, der Founder steckt im Vertrieb fest, und das Engineering-Team shippt, was der lauteste Kunde letzte Woche gefragt hat. Ein Fractional CPO kommt rein, um ein Priorisierungs-Framework zu installieren, eine ordentliche Discovery-Kadenz zu fahren und Engineering eine sequenzierte Roadmap statt einer Warteschlange von Einzelwünschen zu geben. Drei Tage pro Woche reichen, weil der Job Urteilsvermögen und Struktur ist, kein Ausführungsvolumen.

Der häufige Fehler von Foundern ist, einen Fractional CPO zu holen, um Produktentscheidungen vor [PMF](/de/glossary/pmf/) nicht selbst treffen zu müssen. Das funktioniert nie. Vor PMF ist die Intuition des Founders für den Kunden das einzelne wertvollste Asset der Firma und lässt sich nicht auslagern. Ein Fractional CPO skaliert eine Produktfunktion, die bereits einen Standpunkt hat; er erfindet keinen. In Österreich ist das Engagement typischerweise ein freier Dienstvertrag, wie die meisten fractional Executive-Rollen, weil die Leistung laufendes Urteilsvermögen ist statt eines fixen Werks.

Der ehrliche Trade-off: Ein Teilzeit-CPO hinkt einer Vollzeitkraft beim Kontext immer hinterher, und Produktkontext kumuliert. Wenn deine Roadmap-Entscheidungen täglich aus Gesprächen getroffen werden müssen, in denen der CPO nicht war, bricht das Modell. Es funktioniert, wenn Entscheidungen wöchentlich gebatcht werden können und das Team zwischen den Sessions ausführen kann.
