exponent and Wavect are not really fighting over the same buyer, and it is more honest to say so than to pretend otherwise. exponent sells packaged, fixed-price delivery to small and mid-sized Austrian businesses: SEO websites, booking and dashboard web-apps, React Native apps, and DSGVO chatbots, with a price named up front, a 24-hour response promise, and one fixed contact person.43 For a company that knows what it wants and is buying on price and predictability, that is a legitimate, well-marketed offer, and we will not pretend it is not.
The first thing worth checking is who sits on the other side of the contract, and the public record answers part of it. The imprint names Exponent Software e.U., a registered sole proprietorship entered in the Firmenbuch at Landesgericht Wiener Neustadt under FN 523110f, with a trade licence for software development and IT services.1 The register entry for that company number is dated 1 April 2017.2 In its own words exponent is deliberately lean, a core team working closely with a network of specialist partners, which it presents as the reason it stays flexible with short decision paths.3 On the pages we reviewed on 4 August 2026 we did not find named individuals or a stated headcount.34 So put the continuity questions to them directly: who is assigned, who is an employee and who is an external partner, what cover the contract writes down, and which entity signs it. A registered one-owner company working with specialist partners is a legitimate way to deliver a contained build, and none of the above is a statement about the quality of their work. Ask us the same questions and hold the answers to the same standard: we start from two named founders with public profiles, and the senior people on a project work inside our own contract.
The second difference is what is being sold. exponent sells development as a deliverable at a fixed price. On the service pages we reviewed we did not find a published product-management or CTO-level offer.4 We run as fractional CTO and CPO, which means the build-or-not call, the roadmap, and the pushback on scope come from the same heads that ship the code. On a template website that distinction costs you nothing. On a product that has to find its shape, carry AI your users actually touch, or survive investors and procurement, it is usually the difference that decides the outcome.
The third is proof you can check, on both sides. exponent’s references page publishes three named portfolio entries, describes what was delivered rather than outcome metrics, and notes that further references are being added.5 Three testimonials on the home page are attributed by name and client domain.4 Ask which of those references you can contact and what measured results they can share. Our case studies carry names you can look up, and our review scores are public: Google 5.0, Trustpilot 4.5, Clutch 5.0. Hold both of us to the same bar. See how we build software
