WAVECT vs EXPONENT

Wavect or exponent. Fixed-price SMB delivery, or a senior team that owns the product call.

exponent is a Wiener Neustadt digital agency selling fixed-price websites, business apps, and DSGVO chatbots to Austrian SMBs, and describes itself as a deliberately lean core team working with a network of specialist partners. We are a senior-only team with two named founders who carry product management and the technical call, backed by 75+ products shipped across 17 countries. If you want a contained, budget-first build at a price named up front, exponent is a fair pick. If the product decision and the build-or-not call still share one owner, we fit.

Decision snapshot

VerdictThe practical split: If the bullets on the right describe your build, a fixed-price SMB agency is the leaner, cheaper pick and we will say so. If the bullets on the left describe it, talk to us.

Wavect is best when

  • Your product needs an owner for the direction, not just an executor for the spec. Fractional CTO or CPO, roadmap ownership, and pushback on scope are part of our job, not an add-on.
  • You want to know who builds it and who is accountable a year from now: two named founders and a senior team inside one contract.
  • The build is differentiated: AI inside the product your users touch, on-chain, or a system that has to survive contact with investors and procurement.

The alternative is best when

  • You need a straightforward marketing website or a standard business app, and a fixed price named before you start is the deciding factor.4
  • A DSGVO chatbot, a booking or dashboard tool, or a CMS site is the whole job, and it does not need product leadership around it.6
  • You want a local Lower Austria provider with the one fixed contact person they publish, for a contained, well-defined scope.31

Questions to ask before you choose

  1. Who, by name, will be assigned to your project, and are they employees or specialist partners brought in per project? The “TEAM AND TRANSPARENCY” row is where that answer lives.
  2. Which of the published references can you contact, and what measured outcomes can they share? Ask us for exactly the same.
  3. What happens commercially if the “PRICING MODEL” fixed quote meets a change in scope after signature, and which legal entity signs the contract?

Commercial risk to watch

  • The named fixed price is not the whole cost. The risk sits in who delivers, what happens when scope moves, and whether anyone owns the product call.
  • Ask what the vendor is paid to increase: a packaged deliverable at lowest price, or a shipped product outcome someone is accountable for. Ask us too.

Evidence notes

  • Every statement about exponent on this page comes from the numbered sources below, each with the date we opened it. Re-check them before you sign, because a vendor can change a page the day after we read it.
  • This comparison rests on exponent’s own published statements plus the commercial register, and on Wavect’s operating model. It carries no claim about the quality of their work.

Project fit: not limited to small builds

Project size and provider headcount are separate decisions. Wavect’s delivery unit is a named senior core, but that does not limit the work to MVPs or short startup projects. Larger projects are split into phases with separate budgets and acceptance criteria. We also build internal systems and process automations inside a client’s existing repositories, tooling and workflows. A vetted bench supports continuity and scope-specific capacity. A larger provider may still be the better choice when the main requirement is several parallel teams, an incumbent framework agreement or certifications Wavect does not currently hold.

How they actually differ

Six dimensions where a fixed-price SMB agency and a senior product team actually diverge.

WAVECT DIMENSION ALTERNATIVE

Full products across modern web, mobile, and AI, with on-chain capability when a project needs it, and fractional CTO or CPO running the build-or-not call across the whole surface.

SCOPE FOCUS

Packaged SMB delivery: SEO websites, booking and dashboard web-apps, React Native apps, and DSGVO chatbots, scoped to a fixed price.4

Two named founders you can look up, senior-only, one to three people per engagement, founder in every call. Specialists work inside our contract.

TEAM AND TRANSPARENCY

Describes itself as deliberately lean: a core team working with a network of specialist partners, one fixed contact person, a 24-hour response promise.3 On the pages we reviewed we did not find named individuals or a stated headcount.34 Ask who is assigned and who is an employee versus a partner, and ask us the same.

Austrian GmbH with named founders and contracts under Austrian law.

The real difference, in practice

exponent and Wavect are not really fighting over the same buyer, and it is more honest to say so than to pretend otherwise. exponent sells packaged, fixed-price delivery to small and mid-sized Austrian businesses: SEO websites, booking and dashboard web-apps, React Native apps, and DSGVO chatbots, with a price named up front, a 24-hour response promise, and one fixed contact person.43 For a company that knows what it wants and is buying on price and predictability, that is a legitimate, well-marketed offer, and we will not pretend it is not.

The first thing worth checking is who sits on the other side of the contract, and the public record answers part of it. The imprint names Exponent Software e.U., a registered sole proprietorship entered in the Firmenbuch at Landesgericht Wiener Neustadt under FN 523110f, with a trade licence for software development and IT services.1 The register entry for that company number is dated 1 April 2017.2 In its own words exponent is deliberately lean, a core team working closely with a network of specialist partners, which it presents as the reason it stays flexible with short decision paths.3 On the pages we reviewed on 4 August 2026 we did not find named individuals or a stated headcount.34 So put the continuity questions to them directly: who is assigned, who is an employee and who is an external partner, what cover the contract writes down, and which entity signs it. A registered one-owner company working with specialist partners is a legitimate way to deliver a contained build, and none of the above is a statement about the quality of their work. Ask us the same questions and hold the answers to the same standard: we start from two named founders with public profiles, and the senior people on a project work inside our own contract.

The second difference is what is being sold. exponent sells development as a deliverable at a fixed price. On the service pages we reviewed we did not find a published product-management or CTO-level offer.4 We run as fractional CTO and CPO, which means the build-or-not call, the roadmap, and the pushback on scope come from the same heads that ship the code. On a template website that distinction costs you nothing. On a product that has to find its shape, carry AI your users actually touch, or survive investors and procurement, it is usually the difference that decides the outcome.

The third is proof you can check, on both sides. exponent’s references page publishes three named portfolio entries, describes what was delivered rather than outcome metrics, and notes that further references are being added.5 Three testimonials on the home page are attributed by name and client domain.4 Ask which of those references you can contact and what measured results they can share. Our case studies carry names you can look up, and our review scores are public: Google 5.0, Trustpilot 4.5, Clutch 5.0. Hold both of us to the same bar. See how we build software and how we build AI into products .

When each is the better call

// 01

When Wavect is the better call

  • Your product needs an owner for the direction, not just an executor for the spec. Fractional CTO or CPO, roadmap ownership, and pushback on scope are part of our job, not an add-on.
  • You want to know who builds it and who is accountable a year from now: two named founders and a senior team inside one contract, with any specialist we bring in working inside that same contract.
  • The build is differentiated: AI inside the product your users touch, on-chain, or a system that has to survive contact with investors and procurement.
  • Your references end up in front of investors or procurement and need to be checkable: named case studies and public review scores you can open yourself.
// 02

When exponent is the better call

  • You need a straightforward marketing website or a standard business app, and a fixed price named before you start is the deciding factor.4
  • A DSGVO chatbot, a booking or dashboard tool, or a CMS site is the whole job, and it does not need product leadership around it.6
  • You want a local Lower Austria provider with one fixed contact person for a contained, well-defined scope.31
  • Budget is the hard constraint and their published website entry price of around EUR 999 sits below our fixed-price floor, which starts at EUR 3,500 for a Discovery Phase.4

If the bullets on the right describe your build, a fixed-price SMB agency is the leaner, cheaper pick and we will say so. If the bullets on the left describe it, talk to us.

FAQs

Ask them, because the pages we reviewed do not name individuals. exponent describes itself as deliberately lean, a core team working with a network of specialist partners, with one fixed contact person and a 24-hour response promise.3 The imprint and the commercial register show a registered sole proprietorship, Exponent Software e.U., Firmenbuch FN 523110f, register entry dated 1 April 2017.12 On the pages we reviewed on 4 August 2026 we did not find named individuals or a stated headcount.34 That shape is a legitimate way to deliver a contained build and says nothing about the quality of the work, so ask the practical questions instead: who writes the code, who is an employee versus an external partner, what cover the contract writes down, and which entity signs it. Ask us the same. At Wavect you start with two named founders with public profiles and a senior team inside one contract.
For a standard build, very likely yes. exponent states websites from around EUR 999 and typical iOS and Android business apps between EUR 15,000 and EUR 30,000.4 Only the website entry price sits below our fixed-price floor of EUR 3,500 for a Discovery Phase ; our weekly retainers start at EUR 400 per week for the Fractional Co-Founder and EUR 750 per week for QA, and full-stack delivery runs EUR 10,000 to EUR 30,000 per month. We are not the cheapest and do not try to be. Scope the same outcome with both and compare who owns product decisions and what happens when scope changes, not only the up-front number.
No. exponent sells packaged, fixed-price delivery to SMBs: websites, business apps, and chatbots.4 We are a senior product team that also runs as fractional CTO and CPO, owning the roadmap and the technical call, not just executing a spec. Different buyers, different problems. Both of us show up when an Austrian company searches for a software partner, so it is worth understanding which model fits your project.
Ask for specifics, and start from the register. The company’s Firmenbuch entry is dated 1 April 2017, a date you can check independently.2 The references page publishes three named portfolio entries, describes what was delivered rather than outcome metrics, and notes that further references are being added.5 Three testimonials on the home page are attributed by name and client domain.4 Ask which references you can contact and what measured results they can share. Our case studies are named and our review scores are public, so you can hold both providers to the same evidence bar.
Not that we found published. The service pages we reviewed offer development delivered at a fixed price: websites, web-apps, mobile apps, chatbots and process automation.46 If your gap is purely execution against a clear spec, that can be enough. If you also need someone to own the roadmap, weigh trade-offs, and push back on scope, that is the job our fractional CTO and CPO model exists for.
Because buyers searching for a software or AI partner in Austria find both of us, and we would rather they compare the two models with the sources in hand than guess. If your project is a contained, budget-first SMB build, exponent is a legitimate pick and we will say so. If it needs product ownership and continuity written into the contract, that is where we differ.
