INDEPENDENT COMPARISONS
Wavect vs the alternatives. Honestly, when does each win?
Most agencies refuse to tell you when to pick someone else. We will save you the discovery call. Forty-two comparisons, no spin, the situations where another option is the better call included. Wavect is assessed here as a senior-led partner for larger phased projects, internal systems and focused builds, not only MVPs.
Get in touch“If we cannot make the case for picking us in two paragraphs, the case is not there.”
Why we publish this
Forty-two independent comparisons
Software agency vs IT service provider
Building new software versus keeping existing IT running. Two different businesses, two different contracts, and the reason briefs land in the wrong category.
Read the full comparison → // 02Wavect vs a generalist dev agency
We do dev-agency work too: MVPs, full builds, retainers. Where we actually differ is senior-only staffing, weekly outcome billing, and that we push back on scope. If you need a 20-person bench for parallel workstreams, generalists win.

Platforms pair you with one screened individual. We pair you with a founder plus a small senior team. Pick the platform if you have a defined ticket. Pick us if you have a product problem.
Read the full comparison → // 04Wavect vs a staffing agency
Our Extended Team mode is staff augmentation: senior people slotted into your stack on a weekly retainer. Where we differ from a traditional staffing firm is seniority bar, billing model, and scope pushback. If raw headcount at lowest hourly rate is the metric, staffing wins.
Read the full comparison → // 05Wavect vs hiring in-house
A full-time hire is a twelve-month commitment plus equity. We are the wedge to bridge the gap until you know the right hire. Pick the hire post product-market fit. Pick us before.
Read the full comparison → // 06Wavect vs another fractional CTO
We run as fractional CTO too. Most other fractional CTOs are pure-technical (architecture, hiring, stack). Both founders carry product management depth in the same head as the technical call. Pure-technical fractional if your product side is solved. Us if it is not.
Read the full comparison → // 07Fractional CTO vs interim CTO
Not a Wavect comparison, a model question we get on most first calls. Fractional is part-time and ongoing: senior authority without full-time cost. Interim is full-time and bounded: a leadership vacuum filled for 3 to 12 months. True vacuum or crisis, go interim. Part-time-sized need, go fractional.
Read the full comparison → // 08Wavect vs another fractional CPO
We run as fractional CPO too: the product-only slice of our CTPO model. Roadmap, prioritization, customer discovery, owned post product-market fit. Most other fractional CPOs are product-only and stop there. We carry the technical call in the same head when you need it. Product-only fractional if your engineering side is solved. Us if the two questions are still one.
Read the full comparison → // 09Wavect vs another fractional CTPO
We run the combined CTPO role too: product and engineering owned in one head, pre-PMF. Most solo CTPOs are strong on one side and one calendar, a single point of failure. We carry it with two founders, both senior on product and engineering. Solo combined operator if you found a genuine one. Us if you want the role covered by two heads with a split planned from day one.
Read the full comparison → // 10Fractional CPO vs interim CPO
Not a Wavect comparison, a model question we get once a founder is ready to delegate the product call. Fractional is part-time and ongoing: senior product authority without full-time cost. Interim is full-time and bounded: a product-leadership vacuum filled for 3 to 12 months. True vacuum or crisis, go interim. Part-time-sized need, go fractional.
Read the full comparison → // 11AI Enablement vs hiring an AI engineer in-house
A full-time AI hire is a year-long commitment that needs a year of clear work and someone senior to point it. AI Enablement brings industry, process, and AI engineering in one team: workshops plus done-for-you setup on your own infrastructure. Past steady work and settled direction, hire. Before that, the wedge wins.
Read the full comparison → // 12AI Enablement vs a generic AI consultancy
A consultancy hands you a strategy deck. We do the assessment too, then build the working setup on your systems, with cost and compliance engineered in, and hand it to your team. Need an outside opinion, take the consultancy. Need it to actually run, talk to us.
Read the full comparison →Ship the vibe-coded prototype as-is vs harden it first
Not a Wavect comparison, a decision every AI-tool prototype reaches. The demo works, so do you launch it now or run a production-readiness pass first. Internal tool, throwaway demo, or pilot with no real data, ship as-is. Real money, real users, or sensitive data, harden first.

The closest call on this page. Two small Austrian senior teams, founder on every call, both came up on-chain. Web3-native is shared history, not their edge. Genesis stayed narrow with one sharp proof: $2M+ in token migrations. We went wider (web, mobile, AI, fractional CTO) and deeper (seven figures secured live on mainnet), 75+ shipped since 2018. Theirs for a token migration. Us for on-chain depth and everything wider.

Read the full comparison →What we are not
- We do not bill by the hour. We sell outcomes, not timesheets. If hourly is non-negotiable on your side, a freelance platform is the right tool.
- We do not take equity instead of cash. We are a service business, not a co-founder substitute. If cash is not on the table, a real co-founder is the next step.
- We are not the cheapest, and we do not try to be. If hours-per-euro is the only metric, a lower-cost staffing option will win on price and the comparison ends there.
- We are not the right call for already-profitable companies that just need raw engineering capacity at scale. A staffing firm is built to add headcount at scale for that job.
