HONEST COMPARISONS

Wavect vs the alternatives. Honestly, when does each win?

Why we publish this

Almost every comparison page on the internet is dishonest. They make the competitor look weak so that the buyer feels smart for picking the author. We do the opposite. Each comparison below lists the conditions where Wavect is genuinely the wrong call. If your situation lines up with the alternative, take the alternative. We would rather not work together than work together on the wrong terms.

Wavect vs a generalist dev agency

We do dev-agency work too: MVPs, full builds, retainers. Where we actually differ is senior-only staffing, weekly outcome billing, and that we push back on scope. If you need a 20-person bench for parallel workstreams, generalists win.

Fractional CTO vs interim CTO

Not a Wavect comparison, a model question we get on most first calls. Fractional is part-time and ongoing: senior authority without full-time cost. Interim is full-time and bounded: a leadership vacuum filled for 3 to 12 months. True vacuum or crisis, go interim. Part-time-sized need, go fractional.

Wavect vs Genesis Technologies

The closest call on this page. Two small Austrian senior teams, founder on every call, both came up on-chain. Web3-native is shared history, not their edge. Genesis stayed narrow with one sharp proof: $2M+ in token migrations. We went wider (web, mobile, AI, fractional CTO) and deeper (seven figures secured live on mainnet), 75+ shipped over six years. What we are not

  • We do not bill by the hour. We sell outcomes, not timesheets. If hourly is non-negotiable on your side, a freelance platform is the right tool.
  • We do not take equity instead of cash. We are a service business, not a co-founder substitute. If cash is not on the table, a real co-founder is the next step.
  • We are not the cheapest. Offshore staffing usually is. If hours-per-euro is the only metric, the comparison ends there.
  • We are not the right call for already-profitable companies that just need raw engineering capacity at scale. A staffing firm fills seats faster and cheaper at that job.

FAQs

By the categories of provider we lose deals to. Not by the alternatives that flatter our pricing or scope.
Because the question is being asked with or without us. If a buyer is comparing Wavect to a freelance platform, we would rather the comparison be in our words and our framing than a competitor’s.
Often. Roughly one in three discovery calls ends with us pointing the founder somewhere else. The work we win is the work we are genuinely the right fit for. Anything else compounds badly.
These categories cover the comparisons we actually see in discovery calls. If your situation is genuinely different, book a call and we will be honest about whether we are the right pick.
Yes, slightly. We are the ones writing them. We have done our best to make each alternative section sting where it should. If you find a comparison that reads as straw-manning the other side, email us and we will fix it.

Still not sure which row you are in?
