TL;DR

At Wavect, we combine senior software engineering with production AI. This guide compares our published services with those of Endava, Infinum, ML6, Plain Concepts and STX Next, using service descriptions checked on 28 October 2026. We also explain our dated Austrian directory positions and their scope. Compare the proposed team, acceptance evidence, operating responsibilities and handover for your project. We publish this guide and present our own offering first; the order does not rank delivery quality.

You need an agency that can build the product around the AI: user accounts, integrations, tests, deployment and support. A convincing model demo answers only part of that brief.

When you compare **software development and AI agencies in Europe**, start with the delivery you need. At Wavect, we combine senior software engineering with production AI, connecting technical product decisions with implementation. This guide sets out our published services alongside those of Endava, Infinum, ML6, Plain Concepts and STX Next, with questions to help you define your project scope.

**Publisher and selection:** We at Wavect publish this guide and provide the software and AI services discussed. We introduce our own offering first; the other providers follow alphabetically. Inclusion is based on documented European presence and published software, data or AI implementation services. The order does not rank delivery quality. Services overlap, and an omitted capability should not be read as a capability a provider lacks.

**Service descriptions checked: 28 October 2026.** This selective comparison covers public service information, with questions for your proposal. We have not conducted comparative delivery tests or price comparisons. Confirm availability, the assigned team and contractual scope directly. Europe includes the United Kingdom here. Our historical Austrian directory observations are dated separately below.

**Independence and trademarks:** Wavect publishes this page and is itself a provider, so we have a commercial interest in it. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or partnered with the other companies named here, and all third-party company names, brands and trademarks are the property of their respective owners. Statements about other providers are taken from publicly available sources, primarily their own published pages, as of the review date shown on this page, and may have changed since. Please verify them directly before you decide. This page was written to the best of our knowledge and with the intent to remain objective. If you believe anything here is inaccurate or unfair, write to us and we will correct it: [office@wavect.io](mailto:office@wavect.io)

## Which software and AI providers does this comparison cover?

The comparison covers six providers with published software, data or AI implementation services and a documented European presence. At Wavect, we offer technical product direction alongside application and AI development. The table summarises selected services from each provider's linked descriptions. Its final column contains scope questions for your proposal, rather than scores or findings from a provider test.

| Provider | European presence | Published scope | Questions for your proposal |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Wavect](#wavect) | Ampass, Austria | Custom software, AI products and fractional technical leadership | Who will handle technical direction, application development and AI implementation in our proposed engagement? |
| [Endava](#endava) | London headquarters and European offices | Digital engineering, AI, data and managed services | Does the proposed scope include application delivery and ongoing operations? |
| [Infinum](#infinum) | Zagreb, Croatia | Data engineering, AI agents, RAG and enterprise integrations | Which data pipelines, AI functions and enterprise integrations are included? |
| [ML6](#ml6) | Ghent and European offices | AI engineering, model development, MLOps and deployment | Who owns model evaluation, integration and ongoing monitoring? |
| [Plain Concepts](#plain-concepts) | Madrid and other European offices | Software engineering, knowledge mining, machine learning and generative AI | How will the AI work fit into your release pipeline and testing process? |
| [STX Next](#stx-next) | Poznań headquarters | Software, AI/ML, data and cloud engineering; team extension | Is the engagement a full build or team extension, and who directs delivery? |

If you need a domestic Austrian partner, start with our [Austrian AI agency shortlist](/blog/best-ai-agencies-austria/). For local software delivery, the [Tyrol software agency comparison](/blog/software-agencies-tyrol-comparison-2026/) answers a narrower geographic question.

## When are we at Wavect the right fit?

We work with founders and product teams that need senior software engineering alongside AI implementation. At Wavect, we combine custom product delivery with technical leadership and AI services for production. You can work with us on both the technical product decisions and the application build, with the scope and responsibilities set out in your proposal.

We're based in [Ampass, Tyrol, Austria](/imprint/). Our [custom software development service](/services/software-development/) covers the application build. Our [AI product development offering](/services/artificial-intelligence/) includes agents, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluation and operational controls. We also provide [fractional CTO support](/services/fractional-cto/) when you need technical direction.

Our published [Hyperstate AI case study](/case-studies/hyperstate-ai/) describes our work on backend services, deployment infrastructure and application features for an AI music product. Use it to frame questions about the engineering around your own AI feature.

### Which Austrian directory positions have we documented?

In the checks recorded for our homepage on **16 October 2026**, we appeared as the **first-listed provider (#1)** in the Austrian AI, software development and software testing lists on Clutch, The Manifest and GoodFirms. These are nine category-list observations across three categories and three platforms. The recorded conditions and sources are:

- **Clutch:** [AI](https://clutch.co/at/developers/artificial-intelligence), [software development](https://clutch.co/at/developers) and [software testing](https://clutch.co/at/developers/testing). First regular entry in the Austria lists under the default *Sponsored* order, excluding separately featured providers.
- **The Manifest:** [AI](https://themanifest.com/at/artificial-intelligence/companies), [software development](https://themanifest.com/at/software-development/companies) and [software testing](https://themanifest.com/at/software-testing/companies). Position 1 in the numbered Austria lists, excluding separate *Featured* providers.
- **GoodFirms:** [AI](https://www.goodfirms.co/artificial-intelligence/austria), [software development](https://www.goodfirms.co/directory/country/top-software-development-companies/austria) and [software testing](https://www.goodfirms.co/software-testing-companies/austria). First entry in the default Austria lists, whose sorting is labelled *Sponsored*.

These historical list positions are separate from customer review scores and independent assessments of delivery quality. They do not establish an overall Austrian or European market rank, or a winner among the providers in this article. The linked directory pages can change; the observations above retain their stated date. We confirmed on **21 October 2026** that the named placements were unpaid. That is our company confirmation, separate from the directory observations and not an independent payment audit.

**Ask us:** who will lead your build, what the first usable release includes, how AI failures will be evaluated, and which support responsibilities are in the proposal? If your priority is supplying a large roster of engineers to an already managed programme, compare team-extension offers alongside ours.

## Which published services do the other European providers offer?

The descriptions below summarise selected software, data and AI services published by Endava, Infinum, ML6, Plain Concepts and STX Next. Their offerings overlap, and these summaries do not catalogue every capability. Use the linked sources to prepare a common project brief, then ask each provider about the assigned team, scope and operating responsibilities.

### Endava: engineering and operations across a wider programme

Endava lists its [London headquarters and European locations](https://www.endava.com/who-we-are/locations/western-europe). Its [capability catalogue](https://www.endava.com/capabilities) includes digital engineering, AI, data and managed services.

For a project that combines application delivery with operational support, ask which of those published services the proposal includes. Request a responsibility map for the application and AI component, including support. Confirm the assigned team and its delivery locations.

### Infinum: AI integrated into products and enterprise systems

Infinum publishes [European offices including Zagreb](https://infinum.com/contact/). Its [AI and data engineering offering](https://infinum.com/artificial-intelligence/) covers data pipelines, agents, retrieval-augmented generation and integration with enterprise systems.

For an existing product with several data sources, ask which pipelines and integrations the proposed scope covers. Ask how permissions from the source systems will carry through to generated answers and actions. Request a test plan for the complete application workflow, including a failed model response.

### ML6: the data, model and production lifecycle

ML6 lists [Ghent and other European offices](https://www.ml6.eu/en/contact). Its [AI engineering service](https://www.ml6.eu/en/services/ai-engineering) describes data preparation, custom model work, infrastructure, integration, MLOps, testing and handover.

When your brief includes model development, ask how the proposal covers the published engineering stages. Request the evaluation plan, data requirements and monitoring responsibilities. If you also need a customer portal or mobile app, specify its scope and ownership in the same brief.

### Plain Concepts: enterprise engineering with applied AI

Plain Concepts lists [offices in Madrid and other European cities](https://www.plainconcepts.com/es/contacto/). It publishes [knowledge mining, machine learning and generative AI services](https://www.plainconcepts.com/artificial-intelligence/), alongside [software engineering and SDLC services](https://www.plainconcepts.com/es/ingenieria-de-software-y-sdlc/) covering delivery pipelines, automated tests and engineering governance.

For an AI component within an existing software process, ask how the proposed engineering work will fit your release pipeline, access controls and support model. Give the initial AI feature its own acceptance criteria. Scope wider changes to your development process separately.

### STX Next: software and AI capacity for an existing team

STX Next lists its [Poznań headquarters and software, data, AI/ML and cloud expertise](https://www.stxnext.com/about-us). Its [service catalogue](https://www.stxnext.com/services) offers end-to-end development as well as team extension.

Ask whether the proposal uses end-to-end delivery or team extension, and which responsibilities sit with each party. In a team-extension arrangement, clarify who owns architecture, prioritisation, code review and release approval inside your organisation. Compare proposals using the same expected deliverables.

## How should you compare software development and AI proposals?

Compare software and AI proposals by asking every shortlisted agency for the same delivery evidence. A daily rate or promised launch date needs context: who does the work, what is included and how you accept it. Use the matrix below to find omissions before you compare prices, and make unresolved responsibilities part of the next discussion.

| Decision | Ask for | What you need to resolve |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Who will build it? | Named technical lead, working team and relevant project discussion | Availability, subcontracting and who can approve architectural decisions |
| What will you accept? | One user workflow with inputs, expected behaviour and release criteria | The difference between a demonstration and the contracted deliverable |
| How will AI quality be checked? | A representative evaluation set and an agreed baseline | Wrong answers, uncertain cases, permission checks and human review |
| Who operates the result? | Monitoring, incident handling and rollback responsibilities | What happens after a model, API or integration changes |
| What drives ongoing cost? | Assumptions for usage, model calls, hosting and support | Expected load, retries, evaluation runs and manual handling |
| Can another team continue? | Repository access, deployment instructions and dependency inventory | Rights to custom code, licences, third-party services and handover work |

For the broader buying process, use our [guide to choosing a software agency](/software-development-guide/how-to-choose-a-software-agency/). The [software agency proposal teardown](/blog/software-agency-proposal-teardown/) goes deeper into the clauses that change scope, price and ownership.

## What should a software and AI agency prove before the full build?

Before a full software and AI build, ask the agency to prove one bounded workflow using agreed inputs and expected outcomes. The exercise should test the application, its integrations and its failure handling together. Agree a paid, limited scope where implementation work is required, and keep the same evaluation brief when comparing proposals.

**Proposed exercise:** a support assistant reads an incoming ticket, retrieves the customer's permitted knowledge, drafts a response and proposes a CRM update. A support agent approves the CRM write. This is a sample procurement exercise; we have not run it against the providers above.

1. **Define the ordinary path.** Supply representative tickets with the source documents each answer should cite. Check the proposed answer against those references and confirm the CRM field mapping.
2. Include a ticket the available documents cannot answer. Agree whether the assistant should ask a question, escalate or stop, and check that behaviour.
3. **Test access boundaries.** Use two test customers with different permissions. Attempt to retrieve the other customer's information and record the result.
4. Send the same approved action twice, then simulate an integration timeout. Check whether the workflow avoids duplicate CRM updates and shows a recoverable state.
5. Change a reference document and rerun the agreed examples. Require an evaluation report that identifies the changed behaviour and any failures.
6. **Check operation and exit.** Review a trace, the model-call cost record and the rollback procedure. Ask another engineer to follow the deployment instructions in an environment you control.

Choose pass conditions before the demonstration. Set thresholds according to the consequences of a wrong answer or action. For retrieval-heavy products, our [RAG production-readiness checklist](/blog/rag-production-readiness-checklist-eu/) supplies the deeper technical checks.

## What should you check when hiring across Europe?

When hiring a software or AI agency across Europe, confirm the contracting entity, delivery locations, working-hour overlap and operational responsibilities. An office address tells you where a firm has a presence. Your proposal and technical design should establish where project data is processed, who can access it and how support will work.

Ask for the proposed hosting and model providers, subprocessors, retention settings and access locations. Review those choices with your privacy and security owners. An EU office alone does not establish EU-only processing, and an EU-only requirement needs to cover logs, backups and support access as well as the main database.

Agree the working language and who attends technical discussions. Ask how context transfers when a developer changes and who responds when a third-party service fails. Put those commitments in the proposed delivery plan.

## How can we start your software and AI project?

Talk to us when you want senior technical direction through to a working software product with AI. To compare options, add a provider whose published focus matches your hardest constraint, such as specialist model engineering or extending your team. Send us and that provider the same brief, then compare the proposed people and delivery commitments.

Show us your current product, the workflow you want to improve and the main constraint. We can discuss what needs conventional software, where AI is useful and what evidence should decide the first release. [Discuss your software and AI delivery brief](/contact/?intent=software-dev).

## European software and AI agency FAQ

### Does a European agency mean an EU-only delivery team?

No. A European office establishes a presence, while the proposed engagement determines the team and delivery locations. Ask which legal entity signs the contract, where contributors work, and who can access project data. If you require EU-only processing, include model services, logs, backups and support access in that requirement and have the proposed arrangement reviewed.

### Can a software agency build AI features without training a new model?

Yes. An AI feature can use an existing model through an API or a deployed model, with application logic and retrieval around it. Ask the agency to justify any proposed model training against a simpler baseline. Your evaluation should cover the complete workflow, including data access, output checks, operating cost and the response when the model cannot answer.

### How much should software development and AI implementation cost?

A useful estimate needs a defined workflow, integrations, quality requirements and expected usage. Ask providers to separate discovery, implementation, ongoing model and hosting costs, and support. Compare estimates for the same scope and acceptance conditions. An hourly rate alone cannot establish the total project cost, so we have not assigned provider price bands.

### Should you choose a small agency or a large consultancy?

Choose the delivery structure your project needs. A focused team can suit a product whose decisions need close senior involvement. For a broader programme, ask how the provider coordinates disciplines and covers operations. Confirm the actual team and decision process, then agree continuity and support commitments. Company size alone does not settle those questions.

### Can your in-house team work with an external software and AI agency?

Yes. You can commission a bounded integration, add engineering capacity or ask an external team to own a defined product outcome. Agree who prioritises work, approves architecture, reviews code and authorises releases. Use your existing repository and delivery process where appropriate, and include evaluation assets and operational documentation in the handover.
