# AI Agencies in Austria: A Project-Fit Shortlist (2026)

**Publisher disclosure** This is a commercial comparison published by Wavect, which sells services discussed here. Wavect appears first because it is the publisher, not because it won an independent assessment. Other entries follow by use case, not quality. Inclusion does not imply endorsement or a relationship with Wavect.

**Scope and source date** Public service descriptions and Austrian company locations checked on 17 September 2026. This is a curated shortlist, not a complete market survey. Fit recommendations are our editorial interpretation, not verified delivery results.

**Independence and trademarks:** Wavect publishes this page and is itself a provider, so we have a commercial interest in it. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or partnered with the other companies named here, and all third-party company names, brands and trademarks are the property of their respective owners. Statements about other providers are taken from publicly available sources, primarily their own published pages, as of the review date shown on this page, and may have changed since. Please verify them directly before you decide. This page was written to the best of our knowledge and with the intent to remain objective. If you believe anything here is inaccurate or unfair, write to us and we will correct it: [office@wavect.io](mailto:office@wavect.io)

TL;DR

Wavect publishes this non-ranked shortlist and is itself a provider. Its own custom-product offering sits alongside craftworks' industrial AI, ONTEC AI's platform-backed enterprise solutions, Leftshift One's MyGPT knowledge applications and 506.ai's workplace AI platform. These are published service emphases, not exclusive capabilities or independently tested performance. Sources were checked on 17 September 2026. Compare the same project scope, evidence, terms and operating responsibilities before choosing.

Searching for the best Austrian AI agency is really a question about what you need to buy. A customer-facing AI feature, an industrial data application and an internal knowledge assistant can require different delivery models. Comparing those offers as though they were the same service makes a shortlist less useful.

This guide compares five Austrian teams with published AI offerings. It includes custom development and platform-backed implementation, clearly separated below. It does not claim that any provider is universally better, cheaper or safer. Start with the outcome, then choose the delivery model, and only then compare proposals.

## Five Austrian AI specialists, compared by project fit

| Provider | Austrian base | Published delivery focus | Shortlist when | Clarify in discovery | Primary sources |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Wavect | Ampass, Tyrol | Custom AI products with product engineering, integrations and evaluations | You want founder-led responsibility across the AI feature and the surrounding product | Named delivery lead, acceptance tests, repository and operating handover | [Austrian AI delivery](/ai-software-development-austria/) |
| craftworks | Vienna | Industrial AI, custom solutions and co-development | Manufacturing or industrial processes shape the problem | Relevant data, domain experience and integration scope | [Generative AI](https://www.craftworks.ai/solutions/generative-ai/); [company](https://www.craftworks.ai/company/about-us/) |
| ONTEC AI | Vienna | Custom enterprise solutions using the ONTEC AI platform | You want configurable building blocks plus integration into enterprise workflows | Hosting, platform dependencies and bespoke scope | [Custom AI](https://ontec.ai/de/leistungen/individuelle-ki-losungen/); [company details](https://ontec.ai/de/impressum/) |
| Leftshift One | Graz | MyGPT platform for company knowledge and workflows | You want a platform-centred knowledge application | Connector fit, permissions and licence boundaries | [MyGPT](https://leftshiftone.com/mygpt/); [company](https://leftshiftone.com/unternehmen/) |
| 506.ai | Linz | Workplace AI platform with assistants, agents and API access | You want teams to adopt AI within a shared platform | Use-case ownership, onboarding and ongoing licence costs | [Platform](https://www.506.ai/plattform/); [company details](https://www.506.ai/impressum/) |

Service models overlap. Platform providers can also offer implementation work; custom development can also use third-party platforms. An omitted capability is not evidence that a company lacks it. Confirm current scope and availability directly.

## Wavect: founder-led custom AI product delivery

Consider Wavect when the brief combines a custom AI feature with the software product around it. Our [Austrian AI software development offer](/ai-software-development-austria/) brings product decisions, integrations, evaluations and implementation into a founder-led delivery engagement. This describes our offer, not an exclusive capability or evidence of superiority over other providers.

Our [custom AI development service](/services/artificial-intelligence/) covers agents and language-model applications together with the surrounding software work. A useful proposal should identify what will be built, which existing components will be used, who makes product decisions and how the result will be accepted.

**Background to inspect:** our [published AI pilot case study](/case-studies/twinsoft-ai/) is a Wavect-authored project account. It is not an independent assessment, a client endorsement of this comparison or a promise of equivalent results. Ask us to substantiate the work relevant to your brief with evidence we are permitted to share.

**What to ask us:** request the named delivery lead, representative acceptance tests, repository access, operating responsibilities and handover terms in writing. Apply these checks to Wavect and every other candidate. When an existing product already meets the requirement, assess that option before commissioning a custom build.

## craftworks: a candidate for industrial AI

craftworks is based in Vienna and describes industrial AI and generative-AI work, including custom delivery and co-development. Its [generative-AI offering](https://www.craftworks.ai/solutions/generative-ai/) and [company profile](https://www.craftworks.ai/company/about-us/) support that industrial focus.

**Our fit assessment:** put craftworks on the shortlist when manufacturing or industrial operations define the requirements. Ask for a reference with comparable data and operating conditions, not merely a similar-looking demo. In the proposal, distinguish analysis, model work, integration and support. A specialist label alone should not replace evidence for your particular process.

## ONTEC AI: enterprise integration with a platform foundation

ONTEC AI describes custom solutions built from its platform components, with integration into existing systems and cloud or self-hosted options. Its [custom AI solutions page](https://ontec.ai/de/leistungen/individuelle-ki-losungen/) explains the model; its [consulting page](https://ontec.ai/de/leistungen/ki-beratung/) describes implementation-oriented advice and support.

**Our fit assessment:** consider ONTEC AI when you need enterprise-specific workflows without starting every component from scratch. Ask which parts are platform configuration, which are custom code and how they are supported. Request the proposed deployment and data-access design in writing. A hosting option is not, by itself, evidence that a particular implementation meets your requirements.

## Leftshift One: MyGPT for organisational knowledge

Graz-based Leftshift One offers [MyGPT](https://leftshiftone.com/mygpt/), a platform for company knowledge and workflows. Its [customer-success service](https://leftshiftone.com/customer-success/) adds onboarding, practical guidance and ongoing assistance.

**Our fit assessment:** consider Leftshift One when company knowledge and workflow integration are central to your brief. Ask for a demonstration using representative documents and realistic access permissions. Check whether your required integrations are already available, require configuration or need additional development. Compare the complete subscription and implementation scope, not a licence line against a custom-project total.

## 506.ai: workplace AI with an adoption programme

Linz-based 506.ai offers a [workplace AI platform](https://www.506.ai/plattform/) with assistants, agents and API access. Its [introduction and implementation programme](https://www.506.ai/ki-einfuehrung-und-umsetzung/) covers onboarding, use-case selection and adoption work.

**Our fit assessment:** consider 506.ai when success depends on departments actually using a shared AI environment. Ask who will own each use case after onboarding, how usage translates into a business outcome and which integrations are in scope. Have the proposal separate the platform subscription from implementation, training and ongoing support. Those are different deliverables even when sold together.

## What should decide the shortlist?

Use the following questions as our proposed buying framework, not as a claim about any provider’s internal process. Send the same brief to each candidate and ask for evidence against the same acceptance conditions.

**One accountable delivery owner.** Ask who can decide across data, model behaviour, software and operations. A role named in a proposal is more useful than an unspecified promise of senior oversight. Ask how changes are approved and who resolves a disagreement between product scope and engineering constraints.

**A test based on your workflow.** Define successful completion, unacceptable errors and when a human must take over. Request a demonstration with permitted representative data, plus failure cases chosen by your team. Record what passed and what remains unknown. Our [software QA checklist before launch](/software-development-guide/software-qa-checklist-before-launch/) helps turn the discussion into an acceptance plan.

**A complete operating picture.** Ask for model, hosting, licence, integration, evaluation and support costs, along with assumptions about usage. Require a clear account of data access, deletion, monitoring and incident ownership. Treat security and legal requirements as project-specific checks, not as conclusions supplied by a platform logo.

**A workable exit.** Agree which repositories, configurations, documents and accounts you receive, which components remain licensed, and what export or migration support is available. Do not assume “custom” means unrestricted ownership of every dependency, or that “platform” means an unacceptable constraint. Read the actual terms.

## A practical selection exercise before a larger commitment

For an internal knowledge assistant, our suggested evaluation brief is deliberately small: one approved document collection, two user roles, answerable questions, questions with no supporting evidence and a document that one role must not access. Ask each candidate to explain its assumptions before demonstrating the workflow.

Agree what a pass looks like in advance: useful source references, correct access boundaries, a clear response when evidence is missing and a trace of what happened. An action-taking agent also needs a separate test of approval and recovery around its intended actions. The exact thresholds belong to your use case; these examples are not a certification scheme or proof of legal compliance.

Compare the resulting evidence and full delivery proposal, not just the presentation. A narrower proposal with explicit limits may be a better fit than a broader promise that leaves acceptance, ownership and operations undefined.

## Separate provider choice from budget and adoption decisions

Choosing an AI specialist is one decision; planning a budget or an internal rollout is another. For budgeting, use our [AI MVP cost guide for Austria](/blog/ai-mvp-cost-austria-2026/). For workshops and rollout decisions, use the [Austrian AI consulting guide](/blog/ai-consulting-austria-2026/). For a general startup product rather than an AI-specialist brief, use the [Austrian MVP provider comparison](/blog/best-software-agencies-austria-ai-mvp/).

## Questions about choosing an Austrian AI agency

### Which is the best Austrian AI agency for my project?

There is no universal winner in this Wavect-published commercial comparison. Wavect appears first because it is the publisher, not because of an independent quality assessment. Compare the relevant delivery model, evidence, acceptance conditions, rights and operating responsibilities for your specific project.

### When is Wavect a good fit?

Consider Wavect when you need a custom AI feature or product with one senior team connecting product decisions, integrations, evaluations and software delivery. Verify the named lead, scope, acceptance conditions and handover terms. Evaluate an existing product first when it already meets the requirement.

### Are AI agencies and AI platforms interchangeable?

No. Compare what the engagement delivers: custom software, configured platform capabilities, integration, training or a combination. Ask which components you receive, which remain licensed and who runs the system. The shortlist labels these models rather than treating them as identical offers.

### Is this an independent ranking, and when were sources checked?

No. Wavect publishes the comparison and is commercially interested in it. Public provider information was checked on 17 September 2026. Fit assessments are editorial recommendations, not audited performance scores. Reconfirm current scope, terms and availability directly before selecting a provider.

## Discuss your AI product brief with Wavect

Bring the workflow, the systems it touches and the outcome you need to [a project-fit conversation with Wavect](/contact/). We can then discuss whether a custom build is justified and what evidence a useful first delivery should produce.

"description": "Wavect publishes this non-ranked shortlist and is itself a provider. Its own custom-product offering sits alongside craftworks' industrial AI, ONTEC AI's platform-backed enterprise solutions, Leftshift One's MyGPT knowledge applications and 506.ai's workplace AI platform. These are published service emphases, not exclusive capabilities or independently tested performance. Sources were checked on 17 September 2026. Compare the same project scope, evidence, terms and operating responsibilities before choosing.",
